Philosophical Narratives:
Fiction, Non-Fiction, and Non-Human
Our June 2023 theme was “Write Your Narrative.” Thinking broadly about the importance of narrative, both fiction and non-fiction, campers explored the importance of storytelling in our lives and world and engaged in discussions on e.g. how we can tell stories about change over time (the ship of Theseus), how superheroes uphold the social order and status quo, the relationship between acting and real life and how we act out our own biographies, how we craft personas, how we interpret the stories we hear (hermeneutics), and whether AIs like Chat GPT can create art.
